Spain's tennis champ Rafael Nadal shows off his skills in the other beautiful game

It seems Rafael Nadal has been inspired by his countrymen's amazing World Cup win earlier this month.

The newly crowned Wimbledon tennis champ put his racket down for some rest and relaxation on the beach, but he couldn't quite leave sport behind.

And in a sight which will no doubt please his many female fans, the shirtless world number one seed picked up a football displaying his none too shabby football skills on the beach.

Nadal is on holiday with friends on the Spanish island of Formentera, near Ibiza.

The 24-year-old was not short of female admirers as he frolicked by the water's edge, practising his kick with brightly coloured beach balls.

The shirtless star was watched by friends and fans, who stopped to admire his finely toned physique, the result of endless training sessions.

Nadal: "I cried like a baby"

* "We need to celebrate a whole year, because this is unbelievable. It is very difficult to repeat this," said the Balearic tennis player.

Rafael Nadal had a smile from ear to ear after winning the title. Top seed Nadal was wearing a scarf and a Spanish flag and had their faces painted in national colors. "I cried like a child," said the champion of Roland Garros and Wimbledon.

Nadal, who before the game showed his excitement by attending the final World Cup live, explained his feelings. "We have to celebrate a whole year, because this is unbelievable. It is very difficult to repeat this," said the Balearic tennis.

Nadal is confident that the whole Spain "will be crazy. Imagine, I was watching the semifinals and in Mallorca and I felt amazing. The whole country must be very proud.".
